Well said. I keep hearing the same thing and almost from both sides. Not much defending of either "side" of the two party system, just a lot of voting for the lesser of two evils. Neither side gives a shit about any of us when it comes down to it.

The republicans made a mockery of the only true conservative, who happens to not be a fundamental religious nut and who wants to legalize marijuana. He has made me doubt the point of having our troops in the middle of a hornet's nest of a death cult in the middle east. Part of me still wants to see ICBM's rain down on the taliban but I see our border, my job and other things as higher priorities right. Instead of a strict constituionalist who supports everyone's pursuit of civil liberty, we got stuck with a 10:1 long shot whose best days were 40 years ago. There was no way he could have one and yet miraculously he became the repub nominee? Looking back I find that hard to believe.

The democrats supplanted the most experienced, capable and most popular person with a street level chicago style politician who came out of no where with all kinds of amazing baggage that no one seemed to care about.

We were all played like suckers and if what I think is happening is really happening, I think there is a chance for real change and not some bumber sticker slogan full of hot air. I thought the ron paul people were a cult or a bunch of pranksters because the left and right painted him with kookoo brush and the fat old fashioned elephants still have some kind of problem with weed for some fucking stupid reason even though alcohol is legal... it makes no sense.

And as for the AR-15 vs AK, as much as love made in the USA the AR is waaaay too expensive and high maintenance for serious post apocalyptic use. I have a norinco, cheap chinese AK and it is literally made of about a dozen parts and can be stripped down and reassembled in about a minute and I am not in the army.

I watched that crash course and most of it brings to light what I kinda knew was coming and I think it will happen in my life time. I think mother nature has a way to mend the sickness that is us, she always does. Shit, you can obliterate 99% of life on this planet with a friggin meteor the size of manhattan and amazing critters stir and create a completely new ecosystem. I am not religious but the sky pilots seem to think the big one is coming. The secular folks are not debating that. Everyone agrees that climate change is happening, regardless of which way the mercury is going and who is inserting the thermometer where. It all boils down to shit hitting the fan one way or another. I know glenn beck is hated by some on here but he had a show a while back that went through a whole list of possible calamities, each by itself enough to cause serious trouble for us a species. If these things all occur, hyperinflation, water shortages, and human dysfunction, etc, at the same time there will not be a fan big enough for shit to hit.

So unless the 13th emam and jesus get off the same ufo and tell us this has been a test of the emergency broadcast system, I am afraid by the time the rest of the world wakes up it will be too late to stop genocide, war, famine and riots in the streets as oil, water, food and safety become scarce.

All I can say is that I am glad I have enough bullets to make it the supermarket right next door and get enough canned goods and seed packets to get me started on my venture north to the mountains of VA or somewhere to ride this out. Having been through a month without power and two hurricane hits and watching water coming through stress cracks in my door from 100 mile per hour winds tought me how to cook with cologne, barter for beer and defend my property and neighbors when tempers started flaring. I also played my share of dungeons and dragons so I should be able to defeat most wandering bugbears and bands of hobgoblin raiders.

But seriously folks... the point is that if we do not wisen up and get our shit together now, planet earth is going to shake us off like a dog after a flea bath and only the smartest and most resourceful of us will survive. Evolution will continue and unfortunately the elderly, the children and the less intelligent people will be culled from the herd leaving the fit, the prepared and the survivors left to pick up the pieces. My salesman mantra has my positive mental attitude thinking that I will be in that group (hopefully) but it's still a disconcerning hypothesis. What will we do without google? Now that is scary...

Oh and someone just stole all my guns for the record. Just drove away with them all. A blue pickup truck headed north. Oh well... I am pouring out the bottle water and donating the canned goods too... I am ready to conform now.

OK I read most of the thread. Highly entertaining.

I sure am glad I had this tasty AUD to listen to whilst reading:

It only has one review - not sure why as it really is a nice recording of a good show.

Oh and Mr. Mando, not sure which group I'm in but I'll grow the garlic and give sailing lessons (provided there is a lake).

Deal. BTW - what group did you think you were in as you are most certainly one of the aforementioned cretins.

We are about 2 miles from Cordell Hull Dam Lake. Or the lake formed by the Cordell Hull Dam.

Whatever.

It's deep and wide, and it has largemouth bass. I'm now trying to figure out how to build a portable, solar powered submarine.
